Hello #smartcommunityfriends, it’s our podcast birthday! The Smart Community Podcast has turned 3 years old! So to celebrate we’re doing a week of bonus episodes, bringing together multiple guest answers over multiple days to the question, ‘Where to next with Smart Cities and Communities?” And this time I’m sharing with you the answers from a range of our guests this past year:
- Susan Shaheen from Episode 184
- Michael Milford from Episode 160
- Renee Ray from Episode 163
- Kris Libunao from Episode 191
- And Chad Ramage from Episode 162
Listen here:
One big theme that comes through in many of the guest answers is around the economic sustainability of Smart initiatives, and whether governments and organisations are putting enough thought into making sure projects are viable past pilot phase and whether investments are being made into Smart foundations, not just shiny sexy hype.
Several guests make points about mobility technology and accessibility options, designing our tools to serve underserved populations and to increase accessibility for those who need it, not just already privileged people who live in places like Silicon Valley for example.
As Kris says, we need to find the balance between business and society.
We’ll be back in your pod catchers tomorrow with another bonus episode. As always, we hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed making it.
