Hi #SmartCommunity friends!
In this episode of the Smart Community Podcast, my podcast producer Ellen and I return to the mic to discuss my trip to Antarctica on a leadership program for women and gender-diverse people with a background in STEM. I highlight the trip’s impact, including the stunning landscape, diverse wildlife, personal growth, LSI (Life Styles Inventory) development and the importance of community. I also share insights from my PhD I am currently undertaking on data storytelling’s role in addressing complex issues like affordable housing, climate change and gendered violence. My plan moving forward is to release parts of my research and data collection as podcast episodes so watch this space!

This podcast is recorded on Yugarabul country and edited on Gaibal country. I pay my respects to traditional owners of country and their elders past and present. I also extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples listening today. Here on the Smart Community Podcast, we talk about data, technology, communities and the future. First Nations peoples have been sharing knowledge, caring for country, and telling stories for tens of thousands of years. I honour that deep connection of storytelling and community connection as we continue our conversation together here today.
